Being a TA, the BSP uses the computer's serial port for all communications. Though the BitSurfr Pro's serial port supports 230Kbps data rates, endusers need to know that most standard serial ports only support 115.2Kbps. To solve this serial bottleneck, check out my High speed serial port pages.
It was recently found that the BSP has very bad RFI interference problems. Depending on where you live, your POTS-connected phone lines can become real good RADIO receivers. Don't worry, there is a cheap fix to solve this problem. This ~$20 device filters all un-wanted noise and doesn't harm your analog voice or modem connections.
Early revisions of the BSP seemed to have the POTS ports wired wrong. What happened is Motorola wired the center pair of wires on the TELECO jacks -backwards-. This would make older-style touch-tone phones not be able to dial out. This isn't a problem with most phones and the problem was fixed in newer versions of the BSP.
Until recently, all BSP's were shipped with a software bug that would reset the BSP and the line at 12:00am. Since the BSP is software upgradable, download the newest firmware from Motorola to fix this.
Many people have complained that the BSP's POTS ports don't ring the connected phone. There can be two reasons for this:
Some ISDN providers such as Pacific Bell sometimes setup your ISDN line not to ring. You need to call them and make sure they setup your line up correctly
