Battlezone Patch 1.4 Information The patch has now successfully updated your version of Battlezone to have the following features: General Fixes * More anti-cheating measures have been implemented. * Bugs regarding compatibility with DirectX 6.0 have been fixed. This upgrade adds graphic enhancements for owners of 3Dfx Voodoo 2 and AGP video cards as well as fixes all known bugs. ***** IMPORTANT: This upgrade patch does not include the bzone16l.zfs file that is required to turn on the graphic enhancements for 3Dfx Voodoo 2 and AGP video card owners. The bzone161.zfs file can be downloaded separately from the Battlezone page at http://www.activision.com. ***** In addition to the 3Dfx Voodoo 2 and AGP video card graphic enhancements, the following changes are in version 1.3: Multiplayer Enhancements: 1. Five new maps have been added. Thanks to everyone who helped create them. 2. Internet Multiplayer is generally more stable and has less lag. 3. More cheating protection has been added. 4. Host migration works better now. 5. The host can kick a player out of the game now. If you are the host, open a channel to the other player by pressing the ~ key and using the up and down arrows to select the player you want to kick out. Then type /kick and that player will be kicked. 6. Bailing out in a Deathmatch now counts as 2 deaths. General Fixes: 1. The Windows CD audio volume is no longer maxed on game exit. 2. The screen no longer goes black on a 3Dfx card while a mission is loading. 3. When resolutions larger then 640x480 are selected, they are now saved on game exit. 4. Some players with 3Dfx Voodoo based cards were finding that the game would not use the 3Dfx Voodoo. This was because of two improperly installed Microsoft dll files. This patch correctly installs those files. 5. The game no longer crashes when run on a machine with certain versions of Active Movie installed. 6. The German version had a problem with mission 8. This has been fixed. 7. The German version can now ally and unally with the Y and U key. 8. Some random crashes were fixed. Multiplayer Fixes: 1. Comet cruise has been fixed. 2. Some modems would return a bad init string error. This has been fixed. 3. A crash in Modem to Modem games has been fixed. 4. Some game settings made right before game launch would not apply to all players. This has been fixed. PATCH HISTORY Version 1.01 -- The following fixes are included this patch: General Fixes: 1. All known crashes have been fixed. 2. Units will now deploy on geysers when ordered to. 3. Joystick configuration is now saved correctly. 4. In a single player mission with a timer, the timer would not be restored after a save game was loaded. This has been fixed. 5. A configuration file has been added for the Spaceorb. Multiplayer Fixes: 1. Multiplayer performance is generally improved. To save bandwidth, ping times will no longer be displayed while in the sim unless you are the host. Ping times will still be displayed in the chat and player matching screens. 2. Joining a Strategy game dynamically will now correctly assign teams. 3. You can no longer un-ally with yourself. 4. Sniping a vehicle and entering it no longer makes you unsnipable. Also, any kills you get in the sniped vehicle will now go to you, not the original owner of the vehicle. 5. Trainers will no longer work in Multiplayer mode. Anyone running a trained version or a hacked version of the game will generate a "player may be cheating" message. You will not want to play with those people! 6. Scroll bars in the server lobby now work correctly. 7. The icon to designate a game as either Deathmatch or Strategy will now always be displayed. 8. Due to popular demand, the system messages default to off in the chat screen.
