Ok.. check it out: http://www.cda1.com/isdn_prd.html The CDA WWW page is out of date but I spoke to Kevin Murray at (703)821-1859 x121 [sales rep] and here's the facts: - The driver doesn't currently (3/18/97) support ML/PPP, only PPP (ie. 64k vs. 128k). You CAN have both B-channels running data but they just won't MultiLink together. A work around for this is for both B-channels to call into another ISDN-enabled Linux box and run EQU PPP load balancing across both WAN links. The reason for this is that USR and CDA are having a political fight over obtaining the necessary technical info to get 128K ML/PPP connections running (TurboPPP issue I belive). They are hoping that this will be resolved in ~1 month. But then again.. either 3Com will help or hinder this process. (see the bottom bullet for more info) - The current driver price is $59.95 for the Messiah object files to link into your kernel (source code will NEVER be available). - They support both the 2.0.x and 2.1.x Linux kernels - You can e-mail in a request to get 30-day trial copy by e-mailing kmurray@cda1.com (sales rep) who will then forward the request to Steve Nichols (Product manager) for processing. *** From the conversation I had with Kevin, it is HIGHLY doubtful that a free GNU driver for the USR Sposter128 will EVER come out. According to Kevin, the Sportster128 is a "dumb" card that needs all of the various ISDN (q.931, etc) code uploaded into it EVERY TIME the power is cycled. CDA evidently had to write all of this ISDN code in addition to the Linux card driver to get this all running. If this was just a driver issue, then you would soon find a GNU driver.. but this isn't the case and I doubt someone would goto these great lengths to only give away the code! --David .--------------------------------------------------------------------------. | David A.
